Holes 1–3

The Opening Run

The 1st tee sits high above Kingston Beach, looking out over the Channel to Bruny Island. 162 metres downhill to a small green with a lagoon on the left and a single bunker behind. Miss short, short-right, or long and you're scrambling for par. Hole 2 runs the same direction, driveable at 311 metres, tempting downwind, but the front bunkers and OB behind the green punish anything over-ambitious. Hole 3 bends gently left at 340 metres, with the ditch from hole 2 still running the full right side.

Holes 4–6

The Long Stretch

The 4th plays 322 metres with a new fairway bunker 220 metres off the tee. Carry it or lay back, and watch the OB behind the well-bunkered green. Hole 5 is the hardest on the course: 393 metres dead straight to a large two-tier green where the back tier has almost no flat pin positions. Bail right and the hill kicks the ball back; miss left and the tree line blocks you out. The 6th is the longest hole on the course, 488 metres from an elevated tee, dog-legging right-to-left through a tight tree corridor. Reachable in two for longer hitters who cut the corner down the left, but miss into the trees and you're punching out sideways.

Holes 7–9

The Low Country

The 7th plays just 120 metres, the shortest hole on the card. Small green though, with a severe runoff front-right. Spin a full wedge and it rolls straight back off, so play a knockdown or go high and soft. Hole 8 is 207 metres of trouble. No bunkers, no water, just tall trees down both sides and a green you have to hit long and straight. Miss and you're stuffed. The 9th, a 470-metre par 5, has a crescent of water across the middle of the fairway. Lay up short, carry the first part, or carry it all.

Holes 10–12

The Far Reach

The 10th is dead straight and the most open tee shot on the course. Browns River runs up the right, trees line the left. The 11th, a 479-metre par 5, starts with a forced carry over Browns River off the tee (70-80 metres from the back pegs). After that, it threads between OB left (the road) and OB right (hole 12). Keep it straight and it's simple. Hole 12 is only 309 metres but plays as the fourth hardest on the course. Dog-leg right-to-left, river up the full left side, and a forced carry onto the green. Get the drive wrong and you're playing one of the hardest shots on the course.

Holes 13–15

The Crucible

The 13th plays 421 metres, the hardest hole on the course. Browns River runs up the right, wraps around the back, and a pond sits short-left of the green. You can't miss anywhere. One of the tougher greens on the course to hit in regulation. Hole 14 at 374 metres turns back toward the mountain. No bunkers, no water, just tall trees both sides where the corridor tightens the further down you go. Miss the fairway and you're punching out. The 15th is 353 metres, a hard dog-leg left-to-right. Driver needs a big fade, or a smart iron off the tee leaves a wedge in.

Holes 16–18

The Finish & The Inclinator

Hole 16 is a 153-metre par 3 with a big pine tree short-left of the green and a deep front-left bunker that's brutal to escape. Get through 16 with a decent score and you're basically home. The 17th is the easiest hole on the card, a 471-metre par 5 that dog-legs left-to-right back toward the clubhouse. Then the Inclinator, our cliff-side funicular railway, carries you up the escarpment from the 17th green to the 18th tee. Hole 18 is 127 metres downhill to a two-tier green with a big middle slope. Aim up the right, draw it in, let it feed back to the pin. Finish at the Spike Bar.
