Standing Local Rules

Local Rules are to be read in conjunction with the Rules of Golf.

1. Stakes, Staked Trees and Shrubs

All stakes, staked trees and tree guards are immovable obstructions and relief must be taken under Rule 16-1. Stakes are not to be removed under any circumstances.

2. Fixed Sprinkler Heads

Where a sprinkler, within 2 club lengths of the putting surface, intervenes on the line of play of any ball lying within 2 club lengths of that sprinkler, relief may be taken without penalty by dropping the ball at the nearest point of relief no nearer the hole.

3. Out of Bounds (as defined by white and black markers)

  1. (a)Beyond fenced boundaries
  2. (b)In Browns River from the left of the second green to a point past the rear of the men's 13th tee
  3. (c)The carpark
  4. (d)The Clubhouse and the paths and gardens surrounding the Clubhouse
  5. (e)When playing the 11th hole a ball is deemed to be out of bounds if it is anywhere to the right of the OOB pegs which start at the tee and continue along on the 12th hole to near the 12th tee
  6. (f)The cottage behind the 4th green and the workshop and surrounds

4. Wheel Ruts and Tyre Marks

In the General Area where a ball is lying in a wheel rut or tyre mark which could unfairly affect play, relief may be taken, without penalty, in accordance with Rule 16-1.

5. Irrigation Equipment

In the General Area, all irrigation equipment is deemed to be an Abnormal Ground Condition. If the ball lies in or touches the condition or when the condition interferes with the player's stance or the area of his intended swing relief must be taken in accordance with Rule 16-1.

6. Tree Roots

If a ball is on a closely mown area or within 2 club lengths of a closely mown area and lies on or so close to an exposed tree root that the player's stance is affected, relief may be taken under Rule 16-1. No relief is available if the player's swing only is affected.

7. Stroke Maximum Score

The maximum score rule (Rule 21.2) applies for all stroke competitions, except for Honour Board events. The maximum score for a hole is to be applied as follows:

  • Par 3 hole8 strokes
  • Par 4 hole9 strokes
  • Par 5 hole10 strokes

8. Sprinklers

In the general area, if your ball lies within the area being covered by a working sprinkler, free relief may be taken outside that area no closer to the hole.

  • Stroke play2 strokes
  • Match playLoss of hole
