Please Cancel Early
As our membership continues to grow (769 and counting) our fields are frequently full, particularly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. That's great news for the Club, but it also means empty spots on the tee sheet can be a spot someone else missed out on.
You've probably experienced it yourself: you're down in a group with three others, and one simply doesn't show or disappeared off the sheet late last night. The group plays short (which in a full field can be very frustrating). The shop may've had to shuffle other players around groups, and there may well be a member who would have booked that spot.
So here's what we're asking: if you can't play, cancel as early as you possibly can. It only takes a moment - cancelling your booking is simple:
- In MiClub - cancel online through the app or website, or
- By phone - give the Pro Shop a call and we'll remove you from the sheet.
MiClub already sends you a reminder ahead of your booked round - if your plans have changed by then, that's your cue to jump in and cancel.
Booking in groups? The person who made the booking is responsible for updating it if any player in the group can't make it - please don't leave "ghost" names on the sheet.
Why it matters
A full field means a better experience for everyone playing that day, and it also supports the Club - every round played contributes to Club revenue and the clubhouse atmosphere after the game. Empty spots that could have been filled are a cost to all of us.
What's changing
Our booking system now automatically tracks late cancellations (within 24 hours of the tee time - wet weather or course closures excepted) and no-shows. The Committee will use this information to keep an eye on patterns across the membership, with the goal of keeping our fields as full as possible for everyone.
We're not chasing members over the odd last-minute change of plans - life happens, and we get it. But restrictions may result for members with no-shows or repeat late cancellations. Examples: Being placed at the end of the field for a period, or losing online booking access and needing to book through the Pro Shop instead.
The bottom line
Most members do the right thing, and we thank you for it. This is simply a reminder to help make sure every tee time gets used by someone who's ready to play. The policy is in the process of being added to the Club By laws.
If you've got any questions about the policy, speak to the Pro Shop or any Committee member.

MiClub Transition - Final Phase
As the final phase of our system upgrade, the KBGC Office Staff, Melissa and Kristina, will be transitioning the Club's membership database from Simple Golf (Virtual Manager) to MiClub (MiMembership) commencing next week.
This is a significant project and will require their full attention from Tuesday 21 July through Thursday 23 July 2026 as they work to ensure a smooth and accurate migration of member data and related records.
During this period, response times to general enquiries may be slower than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding while this important transition is completed.
Thank you for your support as we move to the new MiClub membership platform.
Exciting Website Update
In other exciting news, thanks to the efforts of one of our talented volunteers, Harry Smith, KBGC will be launching a new website around the beginning of August.
The new site will provide an enhanced experience for members and visitors, with improved functionality and easier access to Club information.
Stay tuned to this space for further updates as we get closer to launch.
Thank you for your support as we continue to improve our Club systems and services.
Carpark Pothole Repairs
Arrangements have been made for the car park potholes to be repaired on 24-25 August.
All members are requested to keep this in mind if they are playing or visiting the club during this period. Parking spaces will be limited, and access to and from the car park may be difficult at times. Members are encouraged to allow extra time and exercise caution when entering and exiting the area.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation while these essential repairs are carried out.

Hobart Eye Surgeons - Proudly Supporting Kingston Beach Golf Club

We all know how crucial vision is to performance - whether reading the greens, judging distances, or tracking the ball mid-flight. As Managing Director of Hobart Eye Surgeons and a member of our great golf club, I'm proud of our ongoing partnership; helping members see the course, and life, more clearly.
Conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration often develop gradually, with little to no early symptoms. Regular eye exams are essential for early detection, ensuring you maintain sharp vision both on and off the course.
Hobart Eye Surgeons is committed to providing world-class eye care to Tasmanians, using the latest technology and treatments at our four convenient locations. Just as precision and focus are key in golf, they are at the heart of everything we do in ophthalmology.
As a proud Kingston Beach Golf Club sponsor, we are delighted to support the Club's facilities, events, and the wider golfing community. We look forward to seeing you on the course and enjoying the game with the clearest vision possible!
For more information or to book an appointment, visit www.eyesurgeons.com.au or call 6210 6000. Or come and chat to me, Tim Traill, at the Club!

Dad's Army - Monday Morning on the Course
A couple of photos from Dad's Army last Monday morning.
With the tree loppers working around the course, our crew was kept busy cleaning up behind them and helping tidy the affected areas.
A highlight of the morning was a visit from the President, who arrived with morning tea and a motivational pep talk for the team.

Many thanks to Nick for the photos and to all the Dad's Army volunteers for their continued hard work in keeping our course looking its best.
18th Hole Challenge
Was it "operator error"? Some may say the Inclinator had decided to add an unexpected obstacle to the 18th green!
After some extra contemplation time for the stranded golfers, our fantastic sponsor Will Voice from Alpha Electrics arrived to save the day.

Thanks, Will - your rescue mission was greatly appreciated!
